Meet Kate…

Kate Fontes found her passion for alternative medicine in her final year at the University of Rhode Island from which she received a B.S. in Chemistry. After participating in research that utilized natural products, and seeing how unnatural they became through experimentation, Kate started researching a more holistic approach to medicine. The study and use of Chinese Herbs became a common search result and after further research, she found the New England School of Acupuncture.

Little did she know that instead of fostering her passion for Chinese Herbs, she instead would foster a passion for the Japanese Style of Acupuncture. Kate resonated with Japanese Acupuncture immediately for its gentle approach and how it deals with overall energy flow throughout the body. As someone sensitive to needles herself, Kate was able to see great results within her own body receiving Japanese Style treatments.

Kate has seen great success in the clinical setting treating a wide variety of main complaints including but not limited to anxiety, depression, muscle aches and pain, fertility, and menstrual cycle complaints. Though it is a more gentle style of acupuncture, the Japanese style treats a wide variety of illnesses and main complaints. Through the support of her family, friends, and mentor, Kate graduated with her Masters in Acupuncture, Chinese and Japanese Styles from the New England School of Acupuncture. She is a Diplomat of Acupuncture granted by the National Certification Committee for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and is looking forward to embarking on the life long journey of healing others with this ancient and powerful medicine.
